About us

The Friends of Brockley and Ladywell Cemeteries (FoBLC) is a group formed in July 2007 to protect and improve
these beautiful and historic Victorian cemeteries.

The group has about six meetings a year as well as workdays throughout the year. The intention of the workdays is to improve the cemetery for users, relatives of the deceased and wildlife, achieving a balance between its purpose as an active cemetery and the abundant wildlife that has made it a Borough Grade One site for Biodiversity.

The history of people and events are also being researched by our members and links are being established with local schools and organisations to encourage the use of the Cemeteries as a place for teaching, exploration and calming walks.

Under the Government’s Gift Aid Scheme, all subscriptions and donations to the Friends made by UK taxpayers are worth a quarter more ie the Friends can currently claim back 25p for every £1 donated.
