Friends of Brockley & Ladywell Cemeteries AGM and Talk

The Friends of Brockley & Ladywell Cemeteries will hold their Annual General Meeting in the Chapel at Ladywell Cemetery on Saturday 6th June at 2pm.

Please note that only paid-up members will be able to vote and to stand for office. Refreshments will be available after the AGM.

At approximately 3pm, Anna-Maria Cahalane-MacGuinness will give a talk entitled “Letters from America: Activism in Brockley Green in the Mid-Nineteenth Century.”

The talk will tell the story of the Colgate family and how Brockley Green became a hub for leading figures in the fight for equality. It draws on letters from American abolitionists Elihu Burritt and William Wells Brown to Jane Colgate.

The Colgate sisters are buried in Ladywell Cemetery near the Chapel.

All members and supporters are welcome.
